New Zealand-born jazz artist, Hamish Smith, has quickly become one of the most in-demand bassists on the New York jazz scene. He has been described by NEA Jazz Master, Todd Barkan, as a "modern marvel - one of the great young bassists in the world." Hamish has performed and toured the world with an astonishing list of artists including Paquito D'Rivera, Miguel Zenon, Alex Sipiagin, Manuel Valera, Henry Hey, Rotem Sivan, Zach Brock, Yosvany Terry, Michael Rodriguez and Dayna Stephens. His rhythmic inventiveness and unique groove-centric approach can be heard on nearly a dozen recordings as a sideman.

Tonight he leads his group featuring Latvian vocalist Arta Jekabsone, performing new original music from his recent recording. Hamish reimagined a lot of his music to feature the voice, in a way that depicts trials and tribulations we face in the human experience that is the 2020's. The debut album of Hamish Smith is set to be released later this Fall.
